 Earthquake this morning in San Fernando

Light shaking was felt within the northwest section of the Valley, while weak shaking was felt within the remainder of the Valley and into downtown l. a. and also the Westside, per the U.S. Geological Survey. Light shaking, as defined by the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, can wake people up and rattle dishes and windows, can rock stationary cars, and might want a truck hitting a building. Within 20 minutes of the earthquake, many people reported feeling the earthquake and reported it to the USGS’ Did you're feeling It? crowdsourcing survey. Residents reported feeling it as secluded as Simi Valley, Santa Clarita, and Santa Monica. 

An average of 5 earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.0 and 4.0 occur p.a. within the greater la area, per a recent three year data sample.
